Yes, Flit and I know each other very well. We met in college, and formed a friendship when we discovered both of us loved LOTR!
But if anyone asks, I've never seen her before in my life!

Anyhow, back to the whole Rushton vs Dames thing. I know that Dameon is the kinder, nicer person and they are very nice qualities. However, Rushton is a leader and actually does stuff and makes desicions and runs the whole place (except for when he was kidnapped). Dameon just walks around Obernewtyn and is nice to everyone ; doesn't hurt anyones feelings. He doesn't actually do the hard work like Rushton. That is why Rushton is not as nice-because he is so stressed out! I have spoken. Go Rushton! ;D ;D ;D

I will finally admit the truthness, my main angst with Rushton overall (i thought dames was better before this HUGE prob with Ruston came about, so it doesn't count) was in the keeping place. Dagnamit! All the time Elspeth was wondering about going "Oh no, Rushton, woe is me etc. etc." AND WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT BOOK WAS MASSIVE I'D WAITED YEARS AND WHAT DID ELSPETH DO? MOPE!!!!!!!!! okay, needed to get that one off my chest it seems.... I'm going to back away slowly myself, excuse me

I loved the Keeping Place.
Partly because there was no Rushton!
But mostly because I really liked reading about everyday life at Obernewtyn. I thought it was jolly interesting, old bean.
Pip pip! KSL

Oh dont get me wrong! The Keeping Place is my fav book, but in the previous books we had all this tension between Rushie and Elf which we knew would lead up to something, but we only ended up getting the tiniest fraction of it! Most of us were waiting to see how their relationship went, but we got almost nothing about it!

i hope there's more Rushie and Elf in The Sneding though i don't really think so, since she's got to go on her quest and all...

there has to be something at least! I really want to see a bonding ceremony happen...and i really hope she doesn't just sneak off without saying a proper goodbye to poor Rushie

That wasn't what i was whinging about, i was whinging about how she really did do nothing quest wise when you think about it. Yeah, the rebellion and all that did happen, which was good, but did she really need that many words to get to that point?? I don't mind reading long books, but please there there be a progression of the plot sutible to the size?? Is it too much to ask??

yep 'but in the previous books we had all this tension between Rushie and Elf which we knew would lead up to something, but we only ended up getting the tiniest fraction of it!'(HOD) maybe it's a fore (can't remember the rest of the word foretelling? ;D) of their relationship, all tension and lust and then nothing ....

I feel sadly sorry for Elspeth on that front.... but maybe if she did the quest then she would really know where it's all going so... GET YOUR RUSHTON-MOPING ASS INTO GEAR AND FINISH IT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.... oh, and Kayt, fine, if that's the case, i don't know you either....

I don't think Elf's attracted to Rushton purely because of looks.

Yeah, Elf never seems to really take note weither someone is good looking or not

*takes llama and names him Meep. puts a purple ribbon about his neck and decides to take Meep to a llama show*
Yeah, i'm not to sure about the looks thing, either. Maybe because of Elspeth's traumatic past she unknowingly leans to the arrogant-grouchy-man over the swoony-lovely-man... ?? ??

Okay Flit and Brydie.
Here is a question the three of us must consider:
Why is Mr. Darcy hot, but Rushton not?
Thoughts?

Mr. Darcy?

hmmmm, interesting question... i've never said that rushton wasn't hot, i only think that swallow and daffyd and matty are hotter. we can't really say why we think rushton is or isn't hot because we've only ever seen what our own minds make of him - and that will be different for everyone. so while everyone should be imagining him with green eyes, he may be short or tal, or have a differently structured face, to different people which could make rushton hot or really, REALLY ugly. i don't like rishton, not because of the way i imagine him to look like, but because of his personality and traits and special qualities which make rushton who he is. i saw the film pride and predjudice before i read the book, which made me imagine the characters as i read the book to look the same as they did in the film. the reason i was attracted to mr darcy was because of his intensity, which i'm always attracted to, and his own special type of humour which basically consists of his insulting others - and i loved the way he caused havoc all across teh country. i liked him because he stirred things up a lot. i could go on for a while longer about this, but i'm meant to be doing assignments atm...so does that all make sense?

wet shirt scene...AND the bath scene!! *swoon*
has anyone noticed the surprising liknesses between briget jones and pride and predjudice? i was laughing my head off when i saw bridget jones because i watched it AFTER p&p and knew exactly what was going to happen. such a rip-off.
