I must ask does anyone get guys besides guys themselves? I went on a camping trip and the guy i like has a gf unfortunatly but we are in venturing together so i get to see him Yay! Well one of my friends told hiim that I liked him. Booo. So not the way for him to find out. Okay so his response is eww gross i don't like her that way. blah blah typical right? So then on the camping trip this weekend we hit it off really good and were flirting in the most uproarous manner.
Does anyone get this? I mean is this normal guy behavior? Does this happen to you?
Guys are such a mystery I swear.

How old is he? Sounds quite young.
If you're in a particular group/not popular enough/none of his friends like you/etc he may say 'eww gross' when he's with them, but then secretly like you and get on with you when you're alone together.
I call it the Danny Zuko syndrome. Remember the film Grease? Think about how Danny acted with his friends, and how different he was to Sandy when they were alone.
It can be normal guy behaviour when they're young. Hopefuly, most of us grow out of it.
BTW: Girls in social groups can do the same thing.

Oh elfseeker that sucks! But really, any guy that does that sounds stupid to me. UNLESS he was just surprised. I never say 'grosse.. eww' when i know people like me, but I always react in different ways, so maybe he was just caught off guard.
And to answer your question.. I don't think anyone really understands guys!

I'd say that for a girl, i get guys better than others (im a tomboy) and all i can say is that they dont have a clue about girls. They cant understand how a girl can like them and not show their feelings. heh, someone should write a guidebook

Well he is a year older than me. i get along with his friends okay. ummm some of them not so great but he doesn't like some of them either. I used to be in their group as my main group but I found another group that i liked better so i split my time between the two. He was caught off guard by finding out. that I know.
I like the dany syndrome thing. i so know what you mean.
YES we DO need to write a guidbook i knwo i would read it through.

Okay so at least I am not alone. i say as a big world wide writer project writers that are men and wemon get together and write a book about each others behavior and what they mean! i swear it would make soo many lives easier.

I think sometimes guts can get really like - who cares - avbout everything sometimes. But if you read what's written on their face you can tell what they really mean. I'm friends with a lot of guys, and ones of them has a girfriend. He often asks me what do you think about this,or what do you think about that.I think because you're a girl, they automatically think you can read their girlfriends feelings. Sometimes it's really annoying!
And Gambit - I agree.A guidbook would be just what all the guys need!

ok he was flirting with u after he found out u liked him? well obviously he enjoys the fact that u like him because its boosting his ego, hes prolly flirting to make sure u keep liking him coz its making him feel good about himself.

my theory on it is that he isnt attracted to you but the flirting was the sort of flirtatious banter etc between friends. some of my boys (yeah theyre my boys, or bodyguards depending on if i want to feel like a movie star or not) and i muck around like that all the time and it means nothing.

OOOOOOO lix that seems like a good theory. wow. hmm i can so see that. i have guy friends too but we don't flirt at at least i don't because i get really uncomfortable with it. but i do know girl and guy friends who do that. and i do have a guy friend that always asks jfor advice too and i can never help him because i don't know them but because we are the same sex he seems to think I can hel p too.

Yes. totally there are way too many types of those bu i am not riends with them so i am not intimidated. i hate them in class tough. the teachers nods for you to answer then they break in and answer instead and sometimes it isn't even right. sometimes it is and you weren't going to say that.

Lots of girls get on well with guys, as friends. It's not weird at all. Most of my friends are guys, but my three BEST FRIENDS are girls. That's kinda interesting, really.
Actually, many of my guy friends are gay, so... *shrugs*
Anyway, the thing you have to remember about understanding guys (or girls) is that there ISN'T a manual for them, because they're all different. You can't say "when a guy does this he means that" because people don't work that way. Everyone is different.
My approach (before I swore off guys altogether) was to just let it happen. If they like you, and you like them it'll happen. If there's a connection. If they don't like you, it won't and nothing you say or do can make it. The best you can do is get to know them better.
Or you could become celibate like me!!!
Yay celibacy!!!
All: Whatever...
Hrrmph!!! Silly boys! Much too complicated for me. Give me fictional men any day!!!

even i dont completely get them, but i seem to be good at reading them if i get a chance to talk to them and observe their behaviour. i have this theory, everyone is a book, its just a matter of working out what language theyre written in, sometimes we get lucky and find someone whos written in plain english, or not as good broken english. so everyone is their own manual, you just have to take the time to read it
