I didn't realise there was so many writers in this place... I'd guess the writing competition is popular... I also look forward to reading everybodies stories (Not that I'm entering... I find it IMPOSSIBLE to write down events and emotions for fear of emotional disaster so I'm also hopless at writting stories!)

It's amazing to hear everybodies stories and lifes trials... I have friends who are 20/21 and don't know at all what they want to do... like not even studying or anything... It's a relief to feel like I have that part of my life on track...

Though I envy those who have travelled... It's one thing I don't think I'm ever going to get to... but you never know!

Kayt - who's told you you'll never make it as a writer?? Because they're quite simply nuts! I loved your plays as the Lady Mysterious and your talent shone through that strong and clear. Do you have any other writing anywhere on this here internet? I'd be delighted to read some more of your work.

yes yes yes! kayt be a fantastic writer! I'm still not finished but im steadily making my way through Questers, I'm LOVING it!

I definitely want to do something with books, or something... at the moment I'm thinking Journalism, and when I get sick of it I could delve into publishing and editing.

As for writing, I can do it when its not story writing, that im totally hopeless at! I am just so bad! hehe I probably shouldnt have enetered the Writing Comp, but I had to write that story for school so I figured I'd enter it anyway...

My answer... No Idea.... I'm in my second year of uni doing a course thats ok, but i don't think it's what I want to do for the rest of my life... well i'm pretty sure it's not, but I realised I had to do something when I left school cause i didn't want to end up working in a factory (like one of my friends is) or worse, with no job at all...

I have a real passion for ancient History and would have loved to do something in that area... however I like Glynnavyre was faced with the facts about what sort of jobs would it lead to and how easy are those jobs to come by etc...

So, then i decided I'd just do teaching. At first i was gonna do Secondary teaching (so i could still do history) but was talked out of it and so now i'm doing a Bachelor of Education - Primary. So far the course has been good and I had my first rounds and quite enjoyed them, but on the first day the principle of the school sat us down to talk to us, he asked "can you see yourself in this proffession for the next 40 years?" the other girl said she was gonna eventually swap to secondary, and then luckily the subject was changed because i deffinetly don't want to be a primary teacher for the rest of my life.

Eventually i hope to go back to uni and do something history related... *sigh*.. one day....

Thanks for sharing your stories everyone... It's good to hear some people end up doing things they really want to do The AFL job sounds fun! Do you get to meet the Players? If you do, i'm jelous!!!!! It's a pity your not coming to Sydney for the game in a few weeks... I'm going up and it would have been cool to meet ya! We'll have to have a Melbourne meet when the Grand Final's on (cause we will get in it )... Hey, that could be our Moonfair meet in September... hehe

I was I was as tall as that... I'm only a mesley 160cm - I can bearly pull myself up onto the chair to reach the computer!! (I'm 20 and still waiting for my growth spurt!! )

No unfortunatly I don't get to meet any real AFL players but one day I will!
I was down in sydney for the Sydney v Collingwood game a few weeks ago but I didn't know any of you then... Oh well maybe in October when I come down!

And I hope that I will be coming down for the grand final in september... it'd be cool to have a meet then! ;D

Hey KSL... I just thought of something (I'm good like that occasionally!)
Have you ever tried to send your writtings to IC... Like I know that is a way out idea and she probally gets lots of people wanting to read their work but cause your such a regular on here and are such a big fan of hers... It couldn't hurt to give it a try... Just to get some feedback...

When i went to the Melbourne writters festival we went to a few talks and stuff, and at one of the larger pannels the authors (including Isobelle) were saying to send your work out as much as possible and don't get deterred if one person turns your down. Get as much criticism/praise as you can as it will only make your work better... I can't remember exactly if isobelle said she looked at peoples work, but i know the male author did...

And she knows about this site, and how good we are here (she recommended it to someone while i was there) so if you say your from here, she'd probably be more interested...

You have to be careful, if you're thinking of sending something to an author. Some of them, such as Jackie French (I think), won't read writing sent to them, but it's mostly for legal reasons. If they are sent a story that is similar to one they are writing, it's possible the writer of the story may try to sue the author when the author's story is published, claiming they stole the idea from them.

Even though I know you wouldn't do that, Kayt, I'd still advise writing to Isobelle and asking her if she'd look over your stuff before you send her any writing. If she's agreeable, it would be a fantastic opportunity for you! I know I'm always craving impartial feedback on my work.
