Well, I'm going to give my present to my person now, because I'll probably forget to do it otherwise :)and it's getting so close to Christmas!! YAY!!!
Anyway, I'd like everyone to stand and raise their glasses to an extremely valuable member of Obernewtyn.net and a wonderful person - Delwyn.

The first time I spoke to Delwyn was to ask her what primary school she went to on the third day of highschool - sometime in Febuary 2003. I was amazed at the incredible length of her hair and her shortness ;Dbut this simple question proved to be the start of something better!!!
We didn't really become friends until around the middle of the year, when (if I remember rightly) she asked me to recommend a good read. A prize goes to anyone who can guess which books I directed her to
By that time I was already a member of ober.net and she also joined the Wanderers when I directed her to the site. During this time our friendship blossomed and I came to admire Delwyn's intelligence, her wise and trusting nature, and her playful personality.

But now I'd like to talk about something which may stir some bad memories for both of us, but it has to be mentioned - The Intruder Phase.
Both of us regarded the intruders as pretty good friends until we recieved that devastating shock - they had invaded the old Theories board and said some pretty awful things. I fell apart. But Delwyn - I learnt to admire her so much during that time. She didn't let it bother her, and she helped me through, and I even recall a certain bar of chocolate which she gave to me. Her strength during that time was amazing.

Delwyn has a heart of gold. She'd never hurt a single living thing. She's a mage . She speaks excellent French. I am incredibly lucky to know her personally, and both her parents must be commended for bringing such a fantastic person into the world and letting her use the Internet so that she can grace us with her membership ;D

Merry Christmas, Delwyn! And thankyou for being terrific! I hope you get all the prezzies you want - you deserve them!! Have a timtam!! ;D ;D

When I first found out that I had Kayt, I thought "Great. it's so easy to say nice things about her".
Then when I started trying to write this, I realised that it wouldn't be so easy. After all, Kayt has so many good qualities, and there are so many things to say, that I didn't know where to start. So here goes my clumsy attempt to explain how much we all appreciate the wondeful Kaytly one.
Kayt, you are an amazing person. I know you think that you are not strong, but I'm here to tell you that you are.
Not only that, but you are an incredibly caring person. It doesn't matter how that care manifests itself. It is there. So please don't sell yourself short in that area.
Your presence lights up this board, and I often find myself standing in awe of your intelligence, and the way you can express yourself.
So, just remember, when you think that you have nowhere to turn, you do. You can turn to us here, because we are all here for you.
So, although I am aware I've expressed myself rather badly, the sentiment there is all sincere.

now it is time for me to post a post about the wonderful person ive got for my secret santa - Cat Eyes.

Cat Eyes, I do not know where to begin in describing your wonderfulness, so I guess I'll start by describing you. Cat Eyes you are a wonderful, special, amazing, intelligent, wise, excellent, beautiful, caring person. to sum up, you are an all-round good person

You joined this board after I did, but you still have way more posts than me (around 1000)!!!! You introduced the wonderful Mafia game to us at Obernewtyn and we are thankful for that!!!! You are an inspirational person, who is always cheerful.

I don't think this post has summed up how amazing you actually are, but hey! I tried

so have an amazing Christmas, and New Year, and good luck for the coming years. And i hope you get lots of prezzies!!!

TO SQUARMI

I was delighted to discover that the victim of my secret santa-ing was to be Squarmi. Squarmi is someone whom I have admired from afar for some time. She's always there. You may not know it, but she's around. And when it's most needed, she'll step in and say just the right thing to either a) cool down a disagreement, b) cause us to laugh or c) [insert helpful and/or witty phrase here].

Squarmi makes me laugh. She has such a wonderful and mischievous sense of humour. Often, you'll need to read a comment of hers two or three times before you discover the true humour and wit of it. Just like onions (and ogres), Squarmi's sense of humour (and the ridiculous) has layers which are a delight to uncover.

Have you ever had a harsh word from Squarmi? I know I haven't. She's even-handed and easy-going, willing to accept everyone for who they are and to make them feel welcome. You know you're getting somewhere with Squarmi when she mocks you a little. The mockery is always friendly, never fear.

On a more personal note, Squarmi makes me hungry. I rarely read a LiveJournal entry of hers without suddenly developing an incredible hunger for lasagne or (more frequently) ice cream of some sort.

So, to conclude, Squarmi is: generous, open-hearted, funny, witty, teasing and hunger-inducing. Did I mention that she's very pretty, too? Just have a look at all the photos of Squarmi and you'll realise that this is someone who is beautiful inside and out and who is a true asset to Ober.net.

And before I forget, here's your Christmas bantam.

Well. I was absolutely thrilled beyond measure when I discovered that my Secret Santa victim was:

BUNEATER!!!

Where on earth do I begin. Let me try and list as many wonderful things as I can about The Bunly One.

1. The Link. Where would we be without The Link?

2. The writingness. Buneater's Writings make me laugh. I've never read a piece of Buneater's work that didn't have me giggling. Particularly recomennded is "Ode to the Groceries Locked in the Boot of Our Car". I very much loved "Devinda Ray" too! Buneater's work is most excellent, and I hold high hopes of finding a genuine published novel by our own Bunly One!

3. The helpfulness! Many's the time I've run screaming to Buneater (well, the cyber equivalant anyway), because I don't know how to link to this, or need the HTML for that. Buneater designed my Writing Diary, complete with cows! She is always there to help any Obernetter with an enquiry on any subject she feels competent to advise on. What would we do without her?

4. She is called Katie. A good name that.

5. She co-founded SR! Imagine a world without SR. Done screaming? Well, that's reason 5 why Buneater is awesome.

6. The Bunly sense of humour. Buneater is funny! She makes me laugh all the time with her completely random comments. And she appreciates my own randomness! No one else I've ever met has been quite as willing to accept randomness. All I have to do is type:

*steals Buneater's monkey*

and then, six weeks later when I least expect it, she will be reminding me I still have her monkey!

Well, that's six wondrous things about Buneater, pulled straight off the top of my head. Now, for my closing statement.

I consider Buneater to be a friend, but she is also a rolemodel. I look up to Buneater as a writer and as a person. She has inspired me to get heavily into writing again. She's helped me to learn some basic internet things (I wouldn't have a photobucket account or a blog if it wasn't for Buneater). She's the sort of person to aspire to being. Witty, intelligent, fun and helpful.

now what can i say?! i closed my eyes and tried to think of something quicky, creative, funny, special, but drawed blanks. i could go on and on about how absolutley special and wonderfully cheerful, intellegent, caring, loving and purely amazing u are, but its all been said before (on numerous occasions). so i got quiet stuck with what to say. not that u dont deserve hearing it all agian - because in truth u deserve hearing it on repeat for eternity. i desided not repeat anything purely because i think (and im sure everyone will agree) its all simpley summed up in one word: Brydie. the impact u have made to this site and to everyone here makes u more then a name, u are a great friend and i wish u the very best for the new year and the many more that will follow. im sure ull succeed in all ur endeavours (sp?) and i hope we'll all be here to hear about it!

So i PMed Brownie and she sent me to some boards where you go and I read some posts and then I decided that wasn't working, so I did some other stuff... BUt I'm really glad I did, because before now, I didn't know you. You just turned up in the sign-up thread and I saw you and didn't take much notice. You were just another person I didn't know. I didn't know who I was missing out on knowing! You're funny, kind and I'm really greatful I've had this opportunity to try to get to know you a bit better (without you knowing me a bit better, which just sounds weird) and now I can add your name to the list of people I know and, of course, like!
