I had to watch Romeo and Juliet for Uni. I finally got around to it today. It's the Baz Lurhmann version, which I've always been told is slightly dodgy.
My idea of a good film: If you know how it ends, it still grips you!
I WAS SO GRIPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DON'T GET EMOTIONAL IN FILMS, AND I'M CRYING??
Have ya'll seen it!!! It's so sad!!!!!!
I've read the play a million times, but it never made me cry!!!
Poor Juliet! Poor Romeo!!!
I'm so sad
*sniffle*

No, the Baz Luhmann version is fantastic. Other people have tried to do what he's done and failed miserably. I haven't seen it in years, since it was really recent in fact, but I remember loving it despite how much I dislike Leonardo de Caprio. The guy who plays Mercutio (can't remember the actor's name) was especially good, I thought. That Queen Mab speech... wow.

yes, i thought he was good too. Even though my teacher fast forwarded half his bits I just liked the way Baz Lurhman did the whole movie.

Yes, I thought it was a very good movie too. Even though I haven't actually read the play. Hehe, I managed to be in the only English class that DIDN'T do Romeo and Juliet. But Baz Lurhmann is a very good director. Has anyone seen Strictly Ballroom? Also a Baz Lurhmann flic, and a very good one at that. I had to watch it in English last year, but I really enjoyed it.
And Kayt, I cried in Romeo and Juliet too! It's one of the few movies that I have cried in!

Harry Potter is overrated.
And before you kill me people, just think of the hype there has been about it in the past few years. Good - yes, fun - yes, well written - most of the time, but not worth all the monstrous fuss that has been made over it. J K Rowling was incredibly lucky in terms of timing, marketing and catching the attention of a few people who championed the books in the beginning.
I must admit to not being a 'true' fan either, despite the fact that I read each book the earliest moment I could get hold of it and saw all the movies on the first night. *blush*

heehee, you know Lol, i agree with you. As much as i love the books, i think they are a bit overrated. I'm sure there are a lot of other books out there just as good which haven't had as much publicity as HP and haven't been discovered by as many people. That's the main reason they're so popular i guess...being pushed by the press and all...and then heaps of peoples started talking about them, so people who hadn't read them read them so they'd know what everyone else was talking about etc etc. I do love them soo much though. one of my fave series
