I just went and harrassed my theatre performance teacher (after feeling incredibly depressed at the prospect of never performing again) and he's directing a show outside the school next year and told me that I should audition for it. HUZZAH!
I was so uber depressed about not performing again... but go me! I'll have an audition to go to in a couple of weeks.... I want it so badly!
But go me! I'm so excited now! Huzzah! Chris obviously thinks that I have some talent. Huzzah!

Yay1 but why would you never perform again!?  Because I'm not studying theatre any more.... but If Chris is the director, I'm in with a chance ;D *grabs all the luck that's flying around* *breaks an imaginary limb (cuz real one's hurt too much)* Huzzah! If I get in, I will keep people posted. The official audition notice isn't for another couple of weeks... but I have my fingies crossed! |

Yaay! Good luck! Crossing my fingers too - although not for two whole weeks, closer to the time though!
Couldn't you join a group or something, so that even though you're not studying anymore you can still perform?

yeah, probably! It was one of those moments when you know your life is going to change completely and I guess I had a secret fear that I wouldn't be able to perform again, which would be heartbreaking!
But on the upside, it looks like I will!

ashta you will so be able to perform again... I think that's uber important. You gotta do what you love.
I felt the same when I finished school and I decided not to do a performance degree in music... thought I'd never play music again, let alone perform in public. But if it matters enough to you, which performance obviously does, then you figure out a way to make it a part of your life. You guys will no doubt find this incredibly dorky but I managed to keep playing music by joining an orchestra (and touring with them overseas! Muchly fun!) and I play at the odd wedding and stuff too, have even managed to wangle the odd solo in the odd concert. I want to keep playing chamber music until I have grey hair and arthritis. At which point I will force my children to play instead heh heh whether they like it or not. I fully plan to live vicariously through my kids.
So... definitely do as much of it as you can! Just coz one decides that one doesn't want to do something as the centre of one's life's project, doesn't mean one can't do it on the side. It just makes one a diverse person. Good for the spirit says I.
