If it doesn't rain on Melbourne Cup Day, then it just doesn't feel right. Tim and I went to his parents' place today, where we ate a lot of very nice food and had little bets on the races. We ended up winning thirty dollars, although we got nothing on the actual Melbourne Cup race. Still, it was a lot of fun and we got to eat some rather delicious brie.  |

theres this american girl in my class who's only been in aus for a few weeks - and she had no idea what the melbourne cup was and why there was such a huge fuss about it. we were telling her that it was a kangaroo-racing day:D:D

"Yeah, the big ones the kangas, but I personally am quite partial to the crocs, they're in race 10. Me father's always had a thing for the snakes, but I just can't understand the top 10 most poisonous Australian spiders one. But, it's the kanga that stop the nation, definately. Just hope we don't have a repeat of when that kookaburra attacked the winner last year..."
