Question 1 >>> What is this particular forumn about, listening to music or playing it. maybe i'll post about songwriting in the writing section. that would fit in.
Question 2 >>> What kind of guitar do you have? And how much do you love it? I just had a moment (when it just breaks out that special tone and drives the song miles further) and i love my strat to death now. even though it doesnt have a whammy bar, and what is a whammy bar? and why should i care about it?
Question 3 >>> I am shamed by my guitar playing freinds, see on my strat, at the head on the back side, in about 8 point Ariel Font. it says "made in mexico." He and the bass player joke at me soo bad about that. maybe cause all his fender and martin guitars are made in USA? I mean i was at the store checkin out stratocasters made in USA. They START AT ABOUT 950 BUCKS!!! I cant afford that!! i explain my financial problem to my freind but he keeps makin fun of me, He on the other hand, has a Fender Mustang and a 1952 Tube twin reverb Amp.
Question 4 >>> What are some names for guitars, i'm thinking of naming mine. and what do you do to ease the pain of hard playing on pink fingers?
Question 5 >>> Should i take spanish or German class?

Grunty, this is just a general forum, it just so happens that we're talking about music a lot lately My guitar isn't named, branded or whatnot. I love it because it was my uncles in the 70's, and he's drawn this beautiful LotR scape on it (note to NYEers - we bought Paul's git down at NYE, so you didn't just miss it ). He's a fantastic artist, it's done all in fine dots. PS: spanish. Much less angry than German.

I reckon Spanish all the way,... its so much sexier, although of course French is the world's nicest-sounding language (after English)!!!

Spanish! It's sounds nicer, there's better food and you may get to try some during 'cultural' days and in terms of in the future, there are more countries in the world where Spanish is spoken, so it might be beneficial to you if you consider pursuing it.

I never got past a two-chord version of "Yellow Submarine" on guitar. However, a whammy bar, if I'm not mistaken, is for pitch-bending (it's a lever which you press down and it eases the tension on the strings, "bending" the pitch down, sometimes by as much as a full tone). They aren't that useful, so I wouldn't worry about it. And I wouldn't worry about getting a more expensive instrument, especially since you said you love the one you have. Just because your friend has a more expensive guitar setup doesn't mean that he can play it any better than you. It's what you can do with it that counts, and you only need to buy a more expensive instrument if the one you have is hampering your playing. To ease the pain on your fingers - play more often! There isn't a lot you can do about it, except develop calouses on your fingers with regular playing, and then it won't hurt any more.

I cant play guitar, so I cant suggest anything in the way of German or Spanish, i'm not a fan of a lot of Germay's rich history, though "nobody likes a Spanish inquisition".
But I think naming your guitar is a great idea!
And might I suggest 'Siryn'. Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

Is that the same thing as a capo? No, a capo is a thingy that you fasten across one of the frets to change the tuning of the guitar. I'm told they make life a lot easier if you're a rhythm guitarist, but they're not necessary if you play lead.

Deutsch ist doch eine schoene Sprache, aber es stimmt, Spanisch hoert sich besser an, also du solltest beide Sprachen lernen!
really german is not angry at all, it can sound lovely when spoken properly, but barcalona is the best city in the world (i know big call which i may later retract) so really you should just learn both.

I'm gonna answer questions 2 - 4 Question 2 & 3 >>> I don't play guitar but I do play bass, and after years of being with a band and learning some guitar let me tell you it doesn't have to be an original to sound great. As long as the guitar is of a good build and has a sound you love it's a great guitar. I for the record play a red Ibanez 4 string bass and I love it dearly. As for what a whammy bar is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whammy_barI love it's sound Question 4 >>> I named my bass cherry, because of her colour. To ease the pain keep playing till you build a calous... which is what works best...painful at first especially when the strings are fresh. But there ain't no better way to rock and roll. Question 5 >>> I alreasy speak spanish so I would go for german classes... but it all depends on what you want to do with your newly learnt language.

1. ?
2. I have a pretty little acoustic blues guitar although I try to write and play folksy stuff with her.
3. "made in mexico" is a heaps rad label - If I were in prison I would so get a tattoo of that.
4. I named my guitar 'kiara' after someone I knew a lonnng time ago and if the finger hurting bothers you that much play with a pick and if you drop it pick it back up instead of playing on.
5. There is no point in taking either - the world is becoming America and the global language 'American' - it's inevitable.

it is only the 'English' speaking world's conceit that makes them think other languages are unimportant. everyone should experience at least one foreign culture in another language from their mother tongue because it makes you more tolerant and understanding!

How true. Considering the current climate of xenophobia in Australia, it particularly applies to people here.

I would say learn Spanish. I'm learning French at the moment and I love it, I think it's a nicer sounding language than English. I plan to learn Spanish when I have the time and I'd like to learn Italian too - however I have heard that Italian and Spanish are similar enough that each can be understood by speakers of the other. I think Spanish is a more global language than German - half of South America speaks it!! I cant afford that!! i explain my financial problem to my freind but he keeps makin fun of me, He on the other hand, has a Fender Mustang and a 1952 Tube twin reverb Amp. Tell them if they doesn't like it, they can buy you a guitar!!! Seriously, don't worry about it - its the sound you make not the brand of the instrument - if you can get a good sound out of you're instrument it's all that matters. I will be getting guitar lessons soon (fingers crossed!!) - it really all depends on how dad's work and uni works out.
