Seriously. This is despicable. For crying out loud, it's the twenty-first century. How can they do that and not feel ashamed or sad??? (for that matter, I am not for rec fishing either)

We should boycott Japan somehow. If enough people speak out we could maybe get our countries to enforce some sort of trade embargo till they stop I've thought about that too. Unfortunately, the trade ties most Western countries have with Japan are too strong for them to consider sanctions. At the end of the day, trade is more important than animals. But if anyone wins the lottery, buy Sea Shepherd a couple of ships, eh? They certainly need them, because their current (two) vessels won't be able to keep pace with the Japanese factory ships. Greenpeace have faster ships, but as you can see they're not going to do anything. My problem with Greenpeace is that, even though their heart is in the right place, they're more of a corporation now than anything else. They even have a CEO! Now that's treachery.

Indeed, as it has been followed up with a minor victory for the pro-whaling coalition. Bob Brown (Australian Greens leader) made an interesting point in parliament yesterday: it seems that Nauru and the Solomon Islands voted with Japan. How it is that Australia can influence Nauru to accept our refugees, but not vote with us on these issues?

Japan probably made them a better offer.
(Btw, did this thread used to be called 'Hey! Stop Whaling' ages ago or did I only start reading it right a month ago?)

I remember it being "Help Stop Whaling!" from the start ... I think this was the first thread I ever posted in.

U know that's not such a bad plan. Maybe we should play it for those Japs too, see how they feel then?!

Please don't use the term "Japs"; it's racist.
And I don't think falconfarseeker was being completely serious, as such a plan wouldn't work.
