I think the new Dumbledore was bad coz he didn't have the same sereneness as the old one. Dumbledore's supposed to be sort of funny and mysterious at the same time, isn't he? The new one looks alright though, I guess.

I like the new Dumbledore better than the old one. *hides face with hands*
The old one was too old and rickety and not nearly cool enough, but the new one seems like he's actually with it and knows where he is, who he's talking to and what he's doing whereas the old one occassionally looked like he was sufering from Alheimer's and had no idea where he was.

Goodness me, of course you're not mad! I'm yet another fan of the new Dumbledore. He has that underlying current of danger, of secrets hidden far beneath an amiable exterior. I thought he did a great job, especially when he knew he'd inevitably be facing criticism and comparisons with his predecessor.

He would be OK, just ok, if he didnt have that dreadful mix of accents! Geez he should pick one and stick to it!

The New Dumbledore is fantastic! Of course, I may or may not be biased from seeing him in a few of my favoured BBC dramas. But I felt him to be far more spritely. I can believe that Voldemort might actually fear him a little. The other Dumbeldore looked like a stiff breeze would snap his back in two!

I'm glad there were others who liked the new Dumbledore! I guess it's just a matter of opinion!

Hey hey all!
You're jkrowling.com obsessed reporter is back!
JK Rowling, in a Q&A at the Edinburgh festival, said that the two questions no one EVER asks, but that everyone OUGHT TO BE ASKING are these:
1. Why didn't Voldemort die? (Not why did Harry survive, but WHY DIDN'T VOLDERMORT DIE? ie, those precautions he took to prevent him from dying. This is VITAL.
2. Why didn't Dumbeldore kill Voldemort at the end of Book 5. What does Dumblydore know that made him unwilling to kill Voldemort, even though he could have done.
If we can answer those two questions correctly, JKR says, we've cracked the entire plot.

*Struck by ligtning* Harry and Voldermort are linked together! If one dies, then both dies! That's why Voldermort didn't die at the start. His curse must have created a link between himself and Harry, so when Harry didn't die, neither did Voldermort! That's also why Dumbledore didn't kill him. He doesn't want to kill Harry! It all makes sence! *Jumps up and down* Yay! I think I've got it! *Waits for people to pick her theory apart.*
Oh, and Kayt, I liked the new Dumbledore too.

I agree - although not a big fan...or indeed fan at all, I have been thinking about this for a while, and I only read the third book and a smidgen of the fourth (although did see all films, I'm so lazy).
Although, don't you think it's a little too easy? I mean, it makes complete sense and I am in total agreement, but....easy and simple. Or is it just me?

Hehe - Lucy, no-one ever said JK was a sophisticated writer. Good at suspense, yes. A world-builder, yes. A non-simple plot? That's another question entirely.

Teehee, I guess. My expectations are way too high I suppose. So...Harry's gonna die then, I imagine, at the very end? Interesting...

Yeah, I've always had this feeling that Harry is gonna die at the end. It's kinda sad, but the way I see it (or the way I hope it goes) is that it will be kinda like a self sacrifice thing. Meh, I want Nevile to be the hero, cos I think he is gonna be the dark horse of the series - always overlooked until the end. But that's just me.
And yeah, it does seem simple, but I agree that JK doesn't do twisted and complicated plots. I think we're all comparing the Harry Potter plot to the Obernewtyn plot, in the sence that we're all looking for a more complicated explanation, when with JK, it's probably very simple, yet something that we wouldn't automatically assume.

I do agree with you there, Megana - something very serious has to happen in the last book or we'll all feel extremely ripped off. It's hard to believe there are only two books to go. How did that time pass so quickly??

Well, I only started reading them after the first movie came out. I went out and bought 1 through to 4, and read the lot. My best friend had been telling me to read them for years, and I made her happy by finally doing it.
But something really serious does have to happen at the end...........Harry is going to die, I tell you! DIE!!!!!................Ahem, sorry bout that. But hey, it would be a nice, serious, possibly dramatic ending.

cant remember who said it but I am agreeing, I think they're possibly linked, one dies, the other dies. Rowling did say that she and Trelawny worded the Prophecy very carefully (she said so on her site)
*sob* I dont want Harry to die, but I think its going to happen. But he will only be 17... thats awful! I feel like crying just thinking about it.

i think it would be right that harry should die at the end, but think how many people read/have read them and desperately want to see harry live and for the end to be happy. i think jk rowling is the type of author to write what she thinks her readers want to read, not what the story demands of her.

i totally agree about the NEville thing, he is soo cute, that scene where he'sin the hospital with his parents, awww. ANd yeah he is set up to be a grand hero, i can see it now.
They couldn't kill Harry, i wouldn't want that (and think about the children!)

Nooooooo! Harry can't die! It's a children's book... main characters never die in children's books... NEVER! But, I s'pose, he couldn't just live happily ever after. Well, he could, but, but... he just cant die!

I totally agree that Harry will not die....I mean what would the stories be about? And Harry is THE main character. most people say that Ron and HErmione are aswell but who does the story stay on all the time.....I mean we really don't read about Ron and Hermione doing anything unless Harry is with them or they tell HArry about it.
Harry can't die and I'm not saying that coz he is my favourite character or anything....the plot would just be useless.
