A technical feasibility study is under way on the new information management system, dubbed Sentinel, with experts from the National Institutes of Health before plans to begin a bidding process this summer, officials said Monday." Ok, so it's really not that related, other than that it's called Sentinel. I thought that was kind of cool..  ;D |

I'm sure I heard something about it...and that Britain was joining. They were going on about divvying out the european icons or something...and that they were merging. It's probably nothing! If you haven't heard about it, I'll put my money on it being JJJ hearsay.

I think the idea of Europe becoming a whole, rather than a collection of smaller countries, is a rather depressing thing. There are so many unique countries, languages and traditions throughout that continent that it just seems wrong to try and lump them together. It's probably more efficient economically, or something. Who gives a stuff about tradition when you can make more money?

I REALLY don't want to be part of Europe! I want a Britain back that has an identity and self worth!
I don't want the euro! Whats wrong with the pound! Anyway, we have stronger links with the US than Europe (though i'm not sure if thats a good thing either!)
It probably will happen, but i hope it doesn't in my lifetime...

I am not sure that is a good thing either Dark One, being closer to the US than Europe!! Because even though Australia is very multicultural, and basically everyone I know has some form of European descent in them we are still closer to the US. Its very sad!!

I agree Bun. I was a little sad even over the Euro thing. Coming from a country like Oz, where we don't have a long history (you know we preserve buildings that are 100 years old, and people in Europe are still living in buildings much older than that ), it was sad to see currencies like the franc disappear. I know its economically better, but those coins have been around forever!!! Tradition peoples!!!! *wrings hands* |

I know there's a whole era of euro-tradition out there...but merging into a union isn't going to change that. History will always be there...and it's our nature to evolve...I think the merge is inevitable really. Sorry Dark One  but I don't know..would it be all that dramatic to start with? The EU passports are the beginning of it...and the Euro itself. I think it'd be quite like Aussie...a huge land mass, all part of the same region, but we still have our patriotism to our states.
