When I checked my mail this morning, I was met with the following advert for increasing the humanitarian aid in th American budget. www.sun.com/one/Now, I confess, I don't mind seeing Brad Pitt first thing Sunday morning but I do think that www.one.org has managed to pull together a very impressive line-up. I wonder how much their advertising campaign is going to cost them and what are the chances of it working? Skeptics: Slim! Slim I's tell you! Optimisits: Probably very little but I really hope it works! Goodness knows, it can't be TOO bad an advertising ploy. After all, I just went straight to this forum and posted about it. **thinks** Crap, I just fell for star power. I'm supposed to be cynically impervious to such attempts to manipulate my attention. Apologies for the rambling

Maybe they all donated their services for the worthy, but unlikely to work, campaign?

I think they should have spent their money on designing a quicker-loading webpage. It was taking so long to get the point that I didn't even get to see these stars.
Ah well, I can always minimise my windows and gaze at my Ioan wallpaper, I suppose...

Wow. It does take a VERY long time to load... doo doo doo. I think it would be charity, the stars donating their time. They otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. Who is that freaky elvis-loking guy? Ugh. Orlando Bloom is so annoying... no offence Still loading... And why is EVRYONE so obsessed with those charity wrist bands... lol. Everyone at school has them, I mean it's good to support charities, but they're becoming fashion accesories. WHich, I guess, draws in more people. Okay. I've seen it. WHat will someone's voice do? Money buys things, and pverty stricken people need material things, not moral support. So, frankly, I think it's a pretty dodgey campaign. Though I did like the ad

ok welli havent seen team america or anything *dodges rotten vegies and old choco mugs* but i have t osay i think its good. firstly its for an american audience - an audience which is absolutley dedicated to their stars. so all those faces cover so many groups - and yea...they got it right for their target audience. i just think they needed a little bit more of somethin patriotic cos that would seal it....
now back to clares question. i dont think it would have cost them much. they would ahve asked the stars to do if for free. and if it was somethin they felt strongly about y not. for a) it gives them a good rep. its a great thing to support (and as the fashion goes u have to be seen to be helping.involved) and b)actually htere is no b. the money they raise by being part of it as well as just being part of it gives them that good name. the one who cares and is willing to help. that is humane and doing somethin with his wealth rather then flinging it round night clubs or on g/f and holidyas... so i dont think there is an issue with money. but anywya thats my opinion.
as for the comment about those charity bands...its jsut a cult thing - u have to understnad where they come from. and that is a very patriotic country who wants to been seen as supportive and backing major events. they do this via material goods. thats just the usa (sorry for the usa ppl here. im not trying ot pull u apart. and its not a bad thing. im just saying its different and hard to understnad where it all comes from unless u have actually lived there...but anywya just saying PLEASE dont think im badly targeting u! )..thats how it works. australia is very different. and its main agenda for having skool uniforms etc is to make sure everyone is alike - that there si no discrimination which can cause conflict. of course this comes thru in which skool you went to or where u live instead. but while ur at school it should be uniform and an equal environment. but thats just how i see it. to me is all pointless - the only good hting was not haivng to decided what i had to wear in the morning which ment an extra 20min sleep but i am much more for individuality and ur own personality shining in what every way u wish with confidence...and not just thru skool work....
anywya i have gotten well off the subject. so im going to shut up now.

it is a bad movie because it had heaps of sexual themes, but it was hilarious.

How come Dani? Yes it's crude and it's full of fart jokes, but it takes a stab at..well, everything. Actors, Americans thinking they rule the world, action movies, terrorism, etc... I know it probably wouldn't be suitable for some people though...you just have to be in the right frame of mind (ie take offence at nothing) when you watch it.
sexual themes...? Other than the puppets having sex? There was a few homosexual bits too, but yeah. The special features on the DVD are really interesting, they explain why they did it and everything.

Yep, it's like the Flim Actors Guild. Aww, they didn't have Matt Dameon.. eheehee.. I loved Team America, because it is directed by the South Park Guys- they're not afraid to cut down on the crudeness! (and because it was funny as well ) I was hoping on the DVD they would have a commentary by Trey and Matt... but they don't

I haven't seen it (and don't want to) but I'm against some of the content in both those shows. profanity is not all that funny

I'm not by any means laughing at profanity in these things though - yes, they swear, and too much. But they've got all sorts of little other things that make their movies so different to everything else that's dished out of hollywood these days. South park the movie was all about how ridiculous censorship on TV is - you can show a war and blood and killing - but you can't swear. Team America is about a couple of things. 1. Actors, and how they like to believe that they're more that just regular human beings. The creators explained it really well on the DVD. 2. Americans-vs-terrorists. Nuff said There's other sub themes everywhere to amuse the masses, but they're using a vessel to get a point across. Not that everyone has to watch it!! I'm just trying to explain why I find it amusing

I used to think that South Park wasn't for me, either... but then I started watching it and I was amazed at how moral it is. It doesn't seem like it from the outside, but once I understood where everything was coming from, I was amazed at the level of morality displayed by its creators.
