I tend to avoid going outside because hats don't usually fit my head (my hair makes sure of that) and I either get a tan or get sunburnt. I'm dark enough already (coming from my Kiwi family - no, I don't have the accent) so I don't (exercising control at the moment - my cousin decided to come in and annoy the hell outta me) like going utside. My legs and feet are pale though - but maybe that comes form wearing pants and closed-toed shoes for a year.

One of the problems with the world being so sun conscious now is that there is a huge increase in the cases of Ricketts occuring in Australia. People are getting Ricketts in Australia!! (Ricketts is the disease you get from lack of sun, lack of vitamin D)

Its unfortunate that a happy medium between enough sun and too much is difficult to attain.
It was 40C yesterday and my Mum and I went to a market. I smothered my expoesed skin in sunscreen and wore a hat (even though i hate them) and i didnt get burnt!! I was surprised because there have been times when sunscreen hast worked for me.

That's usually when you don't have a high enough SPF on (not all sunscreens were created equal You need SPF30+ in Aus), you haven't reapllied or missed bits when applying the first time. I hate it when you get random patches that you missed, you look so stupid...

i did that on my legs once - i was going swimming and, as an after thought, did my legs. it was a rush job before we left, and i got all these small red patches come up that afternoon! it looked so bizarre!
i never used to put cream on my legs when i was younger - it was the face, shoulder etc that i worried about.
but now it goes everywhere!

Yeah, most people forget to put sunscreen on their feet, and their feet can actually suffer the most because normally they don't get to see the sun, while your arms and face see it basically every day.

I usually burn pretty quickly, then it fades to tan. Or, if I don't burn I stay deathly pale! However, this summer I managed to get a pretty healthy tan - from lots of sun but lots of sunblock! Last winter I got a freckled nose for the first time in my life, from being out in the sun, snowboarding. I still haven't heard the end of it... Anyway, all this talk of sun is getting me down - I need it to snow lots this week so I can go boarding at the weekend, but the freezing level is set to rise again

Right on Scruffy. I burn, peel than go white again. I had a couple of bad sunburns as a kid and now I avoid the sun when I can. 30+ sunscreen and a solarguard roof on my pergola all help. though I do allow myself about five minutes a day in the sun unprotected for the vitamin D, I tend to cover up as we have skin cancer on both sides of the family and it can be hereditry. I love summer but it doesn't like me cheers

I Tan and Freckle. I hardly ever brun only if I spend 12-16 hours in the pool on re-aplying my sunscreen once but even then I only got burnt in my Part and under my eyes, But then again I have olive-ish skin.
