I completely agree, Tegan. "Flambooijiwhats" is an excellent term. Anyhoo, I call them "Hor-o-crux"s because I cant say it any other way. And I also don't call Aurors Aurors either...they are firmly in my mind as "Auror as"! It took me a while to realize it didnt look right when I was pronouncing it...then I saw that the "a" I was saying in my head wasnt exactly there on the page....

Actually, when I read it for the first time, I remember thinking that it looked vaguely familiar. I agree, it is kind of a weird word, but now that I'm used to it...it instills fear, lemme tell ya

I too think it very silly! But seeing as JK Rowling is very fond of bastardising Latin if you break down the word you get: Hor - meaning hour Crux - meaning torment (this is derived from the christian symbol of the cross with all it's imagery of sarifice and suffering) So... Time of torment, this could be refering to the horrible acts required to split the soul into pieces. See Mum! Latin classes were not a waste of time!

That entire entry's about HP though, so I guess not.
I meant the word hasn't been used, the concept has...
