I thought it sounded familiar.
I used to know all the names of the moons etc by heart, but i forgotten some of them since school.

OK, Im not a big Space person, so is there actually a tenth planet or is this thread just metorphorically speaking....?? *is confuzzled*

I think it depends on what they term a 'planet'. I haven't read the article, but i'd guess that they've found a large body out in the Oort Cloud or Kupier Belt, that's possibly big enough for planet status.
That said, however, there are some moons that are bigger than out 9th planet Pluto...

Aha....whats the Oort Cloud?? And the Kupier Belt?
EDIT> My mum says theres some talk that its another dimension....but then my mum lives in another world anyhoo. Opinions?

These web pages should explain things: Oort CloudKuiper BeltAs for the extra dimensions, String Theory points to the existance of 11 (i think) extra dimensions

Yes, but string theory is incomprehensible...

Again I thank the wise and wonderful Dark One....what would I do without you? Probably not understand a whole lot of stuff....*thanks Dark One profusely*

Didn't string theory define 21 dimensions and counting at last count? Whenever something doesn't work, they just whack it in another dimension...

LOL. Something like that Physicist 1: Do you understand this stuff? Physicist 2: I feel another dimension coming on....

I've just done some searching on the net. Looks like Min and i are both right. There are two different string theories. The bosonic string theory predicts 26 dimensions, while the Maxwell string theory predicts 10 or 11. I watched a science program on the Maxwell theory a while ago, and the mathematics seem sound for the 11 dimensions. The extra dimensions are supposed to differ from ours considerably. We have four dimensions we can move around in and interact with (the 3 dimensions of space and the 1 of time). The extra dimensions are supposed to be very small. Too small for us to visit. With current technology, we have no way of observing strings (which are said to be roughly of Planck length, about 10 -35 meters across). Because of this, string theory remains unverified until we can actually observe this stellar phenomenon

Tehe! West Wing, Josh when he was recovering from being shot was always going on about the string theory which he was determined to understand because he had so much time on his hands waiting to go back to work... *sigh* i love Josh...
Yep, that was random ;D

10-35 - does that mean 10 to the power of minus 35? Like, instead of multiplying, its dividing? Wow, this has turned into a Maths lesson..
