A couple of people have expressed interest in seeing what the map looks like, so here is a sneak peek at it. It's also a good chance to make sure I've listed you as 'Anon.' (and if I haven't and you'd like to be, please let me know either via email or IM). The world map and the map of Australia are complete. The next step is to do the capital city/state maps, but I haven't really reached that stage yet. So although some of the capital cities have links on them, they won't take you anywhere, I'm afraid. Any feedback is more than welcome.

Er... is it my browser, or are ALL the dots anonymous?

What browser do you have? If you hold the cursor over the red dots, a little tag should pop up with names and places on it. There are definitely people there.

Thanks, Arien! I've had fun putting it together AND I've discovered a lot of great map-related websites in the process... I'm glad you got to see your little red dot, Kayt. And thanks for discovering that the tags don't work in Opera. Can you check the page again with Opera in about five minutes and tell me if the tags are still refusing to show? I'm trying something different with them...

Yep. it works.
But the tags say Title: (then the words), and tell you where the link is to, on the linked ones.
But meh. Who cares.
Like the map! Muchly good work! Don't a surprising number of people live in Hobart?

Thanks for doing that, Kayt. I checked the map out on Mozilla and that delightfully cuts the tags off half-way through. I'm very impressed... Yes - it is fascinating to see how many people hail from Hobart. And it's lovely to see that all the states are represented, along with two extra continents. We're a very multi-national group!

Just a random, not really sure why thought.
Can we call it the "Where are we from map"?
Ah! That's why. Gives more of a sense of community!
But if you hate it, then ignore me!

I like the suggestion, Kayt. I'm glad you mentioned it, because I'd completely forgotten what I'd put as the title for the page. Most of my attention had been going towards getting the red dots right. Glad you like it, Emerald.

Yeah - Mozilla cuts half of the names off, curse its shiny metal hide. I'm not that worried, though, because the capital city maps will give you all the information that's missing from the big Australian map.

Ah, is it just me or do the capital cities not have linked pages yet? Like, they have links, just not the pages? Or is that just me? So, when I click on Melbourne, it goes to a Geocities error page, that's right, right?
Also, damn Mozilla and it's cutting-offy bit. Now I have to go open IE and try and find this board from IE.... Grrrr..

Also, even in IE, I can't find out who are the dots who aren't in Aus. Am I sposed to be able to?
If it's not there yet, that's cool, I'm just wondering if it's a bug or if you haven't done it yet or whatever.
It's very awesome though!

Don't panic, Cat-Eyes! I haven't done the capital city maps yet, even though the links are there. However, you should be able to see name tags on the American and UK dots. Curse this silly internet and its quirks! Is anyone else having that trouble? It's working for me in IE6 and Mozilla. If anyone's on a different (or older) browser and it's not working, I may have to recruit you for extensive testing...
