Another Clue: It is a photo, done by someone in the middle of the 20th century, and they often worked in fashion mags

Argh, perhaps I didn't choose a famous enough image? Well, the reason the russian dolls and the statues mentioned were the closest guesses [at that stage in the game] was because they were humanoid. The photo itself has been manipulated a tad by the photographer to incorporate certain features of a musical instrument on the subject. Here's the image again, but made a tad more recognisable  |

It's looks like a naked woman facing the other way.
Reminds me of those d*mned Feritility figures we had to make in year 7, only this one looks infinately more classy...
Oh, and the musical instrument is a cello or something along those lins. Viola, maybe. Depends how big it is.
