ugh honestly I hate the "ooh lordy, I'm so fat" - "oh no you're not hunny, I'm fat" exchange. GET OVER IT PEOPLES! they know they're not fat anyway and only do it as a form of ego boosting so all their 'friends' can say "oh no ur like the purdiest, skinniest, boniest most lean and sticklike gal I know!". Honestly, it drives me to distraction. There is what's known as a BIGGER PICTURE, peoples! it is not all about you and your waistline! And plus like Brownie said it's really insensitive to others. It's like the clowns who say "OMG I totally screwed that test" and then tell you you did brilliantly when you inform them that your mark is way lower. and I hope that all of u out there are happy with whatever you weigh as long as you're healthy (ie not about to keel over from starvation or about to have the ol' arteries conk out from too much saturated fat!) - it is health that is important! Not tape measures and scales! and, regardless of health, too, your value is not measured in pounds or kilos, it is measured in something far more ephemeral and important, like whether u are a good person! so huh. my personal gripe at the moment is with a lovely friend of mine who recently shed a lot of weight on weight watchers. I'm very pleased that she feels happy with herself for doing it (altho I thought she was just as gorgeous before, and I'm always careful to let her know that I think so) but now because she's lost all this weight she's become hyper-critical of everyone else's eating habits and waistlines (we're thinking disapproving comments like "are u an emotional eater, Feather?" as u reach for a single tim tam, or shakes of the head at larger ladies and saying "I don't know how she can just let herself go like that"). I know she's proud of working hard to achieve her goal but it doesn't give her a license to comment on other peoples' bodies or to presume that they should change themselves. Grrr. She's a lovely friend but this stream of comments has become an irritating habit of hers. well that's my rant go and be happy with yourselves folks!
