I was wondering, how could Ariel become a herder if he is a misfit/doesn't have parents/been to Obernewtyn ect. ect. |

hmm...well, maybe the herders know that, but..well, it's Ariel!  He's feeding them useful information from the slave trade, henry druid and the council i suppose, since he has links with them all. And useful info about Obernewtyn.
And maybe he has coercive sort of Talents and makes them trust him

Yeah, Ariel probably has coercive talent and his personality and good looks would win everyone over! And is being quite useful to the herders.
