"I've said it before and I'll say it again. Democracy Doesn't Work"

i have a feeling that people voted for howard and bush because...in this time of conflict and stuff people have grown used to the way howard/bush handle these crisis es thing and they dont waant to have to get used to the way other people who they aren;t familiar with deal with these things. or maybe they dont want to risk getting rid of someone they hate and replacing him with someone who turns out to be even worse. is that how other people think, or am i way off the mark?

i have some american friends who are devastated
i can relate
luckily in ireland the president doesn't have much power
she only signs laws
yes we have a WOMAN president
i found out how the american system of politics works and i was shocked they don't have proportional representation
which means it can only ever really be between 2 main candidates
its very strange half of a continent don't want to be ruled by their leader
i like the americans i have met but i hate their government

In a not laugh out loud way, but in a "thats strange" way I think it's funny, because the whole point of American (kinda) is democracy and the voice of the people etc etc, yet now, pretty much half of the population is discounted and have no spokesperson.
They should just mud wrestle for the presidency, then we'd know who was truly worthy.
I don't that much would have changed really though. I mean, I know Kerry was anti-war, but he wouldn't beable to pull troups out over night. I doubt much would have really changed in the short term. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't kno that much about American policitics. It's so different from over here - you guys all have polls about who you're going to vote for (strange?!) and over here you wouldn't ask someone the straight question, our voting is private and it's just not the done thing to discuss who you vote for.
Hmmm...
*thinks about political stuff*

I like our government when run right. and by the way how does bush handle thingsd? not at all. anyway back to the point democracy works pretty well and the way our system works is good when run right. But here is Bush mixing church and state which is not good becuase it conflicts with the constition and in some aspects how the government works. The nation is split which is bad and the people in my feeling voted stupidly.

im not sure OD...i have no clue on politics...i jsut no i never like the outcomes......nad elfseeker i think ppl vote stupidly always
lucy so is ours...and most ppl dont discus it...except those who are really upset bout the outcome...and i make my mum, uncle, aunt talk bout it so i have an idea of wats goin on...they dont mind tho...
brydie ur rite...the majority of ppl wont change a presedent in a time of conflict...tho i think its stupid cos thats how howard has stayed in for so long! well at least the last 2 times!!!! they are all manipulative bums....
i also agree with lucy - i dont htink changes would have bin seen over nite..but u never can expect that...the only thing is CHANGES would have happened! and much sooner then they are now! and plus (in my mind) it'd be good to see what kerry would have done cos i really dislike bush! but then i am a girl who thought clinton did wonders for the usa nad most americans didnt like him either oh well at least bush can only run ONE more time...*sigh*

Money is good i love money
but it shouldn't justify everything
there is a line between nice ways of getting money and evil ways of getting money
the american government is incapable of making the distinction

wonderfully spoken, dearest timothy ;D OD - i have no idea either. damn our schools for not teaching me this stuff!! they should know i couldn't be bothered to go and find it all out for myself! something HAS to happen to change the way everyone thinks...otherwise we're all doomed. but i can't think what. maybe we can take over the world and start from scratch? how do we all feel about that?
