I know you said it first but i thought of it just then when i read the riddle for the first time. The wife is the kings sister, therefore they get equal shares of the pigs, one each.

How do you fit a giraffe into a refrigerator?With great difficulty. When I did it, I used a shoe horn and a small bucket of mint-flavoured water.
