Theories: ok rushtons pig well it seems to be the unobvious but it couold bge the pig, i mean what do we know about it? is it in the last 3 books? maybe it will turn up in the forth one. maybe it has a case

correction to the pigeons case... it was the pigeon who failed to send the message to the misfits that rushton had been kidnpped. therefore i think they may have been involved with it... and therefore the destroyer is a pigeon
