To whoever can provide an answer,
I heard a rumour that the Sending was out this year. Is that true, or is it just false hope?

Yeah i was wondering that too. i put another thread and from what i can gather there is a rumour that it will be out in oct. it is just a rumour nothing has been confirmed by IC or any publishers. and there have been so many of these rumours in the past that i try not to hope too much because it is always terribble whne you find oui t that you are going to have to wait another year or two. oh i can slightly remember something about someone asking at a book store and them saying it would come in oct? dont quote me on it. probably got the wires crossed as i frequently do...

All the bookstores seem to have different opinions. Some say Oct 05 others say Oct 06...

yes and someone (i cant remember who) went to the bookstore sometime last october and thier computer said it was supposed to be out that very same day.
so basically until i actually have a copy in my hands im not going to get my hopes too high on any date. however this october would be wonderful

I've said this before its real weird an author not finishing a series before writing new stuff as she would loose a number of readers you think(No not anyone here but we are a dedicated bunch) cause they'd get tired of waiting for it and forget about it.
The only thing I can think of is maybe poor sales? OB's great so I'd hate to think thats the case.

Maybe the problem is that it's not selling so well outside Australia? And apparently, The Gateway Tril is. The publishers are pestering IC for the Firecat's Dream so they can sell them in America a year apart.

Thats true, at the end of the day its all about the allmighty buck unfortunately, and we have to wither and wait *sigh*
But I am sure it shall be worth it.
I'll bet its bound to create some insomniacs around here

I think they honestly just keep bumping the date. I remember asking around the time when Oct 04 was the answer too and now there's rumors of Oct 05 and 06. Who knows? And why October?!

That's exactly what I was thinking! Why can't they jump bumb it up 6 months or something, why is the release date ALWAYS October?

I can answer why the date is always oct, btu bookstores have access to a system that the big publishers put all the books curently in print in Aus on. They also psot release dates of most books that might be inquired about as soon as they have one. Teh Sending ahs been on this system for years now, but the date keeps changing. Every tiem the date changes on it, we really do think that that is when it's goign to come out. It's jsut that teh date keeps gettin bumped. But believe me, I'm on the case If I get a date that our Penguin rep can officially confirm for me this will be the first palce I come. I'm sure she's sick of me askign every tiem she arrives at our store.

I've got a friend who started reading the books when they originally started coming out (like, ORIGINALLY originally!) so she's been waiting, like, ten years for the Sneding... Anyway, I asked at Angus and Robertson just the other day, and they said Oct 2006. Sorry, mateys... Cheerio, Lauren
