To my Dearest Friends, The Obernetters!
If you are reading this I am soon to be somewhere in Victoria, searching the streets for someone who understands the obsessions (will I call it obsession? Yes I think I will) we all share with the Obernewtyn Chronicles. On the trip I am about to go on, I doubt I will be near a computer, and this is very painful for me!
I am missing you all already, from the newest Misfit, to all those Masters of Obernewtyn who keep the place running beautifully! I will be missing being here, typing away, as I sit on the plane. Please don’t forget me!
Make sure you all have a very Merry Christmas...and be safe through to the New Year!
I would like to say that this year has been wonderful, my first year as an Obernetter! I owe you, Brydie, a huge HUG! for persuading me to read Obernewtyn and then further joining this group of amazing people!
I have gained many things during this year, from being an Obernetter! I have gained confidence in myself, through all the wonderful things people tell me, which I do not often hear at all! I thank you all for that! I have grown, not only mentally but as a person! I thank you for that! And my heart, like the Grinch’s, has grown about a million sizes larger! With all the new friends I have made, some renovations have been made! I thank you for that! But what I really want to thank you all for is just being here! No matter what time of day, there has always been another person on, and a great thread to respond to. I THANK YOU ALL!!!!
I guaranty that as soon as I get home, I will log onto Obernewtyn Forum, and try to catch up on all that I will have missed, and I know that I will have missed plenty, as this forum just continues to grow!
I would like to begin finishing this letter with something I have just thought of.
My mother has always said that reading is an antisocial hobby. I now have evidence that she is WRONG! Through reading four single books, and I know a few who have only read one or two, I have met more people to talk to, to befriend and generally have an excellent time with, than I would have playing a sport or building model aeroplanes. Through Obernewtyn and Isobelle Carmody I have made a great many friends that I will treasure for always and forever! Further that the day I can no longer read or type, I will remember all the laughs, tears and even adventures that I have shared siting at a computer that has opened so many windows of love, hope and friendships!
Yours Forever and ever, well at least until I hit 60 and have arthritis from all the typing I did when I was only 14, but hopefully even longer!
Those who live in Victoria keep an eye or two (or three if you have that many) out for me, and come up to me and say hello! I so much want to meet you all!!!
Your fellow obsessed Obernetter!
Brownie!
And her Elves! (You didn’t think I would leave them out, did you?)
