I love Christmas ;D It's one of the only times in the year that everyone in my mothers family (including extended family such as all of my second cousins and my cousins ex-boyfriends mother) gets together and its the time of year which makes everyone feel so loved and valued. We have a huge family and there is a lot of effort put into getting everyone together, with people flying up from Canberra and elsewhere to be here. The day is so much fun- the food (fish and chips and lots and lots of desserts), family, the kids, the knee-high blow up pool ;D, the corny jokes, the crakers (and yes the hats too!), and the amazingly creative pressies. because our family is so large the littlelies get lots of pressies and everyone else goes into the draw for a secret santa pressie - BUT it can't cost more than $3 and has to mean something But this year I'm spending Christmas at my Dads and 6 people just hanging around the house on Christmas day just isn't the same P.S. yes, I also must admit to leaving my stocking up on Christmas Eve and leaving milk and biscuits out for santa and a few carrots for the raindeer but hey I live in a house with 12, 9 and 5 year olds

That's so crummy, Ethereal. I just can't believe people, sometimes. Stealing Christmas presents has to be a pretty low thing. A couple of years ago, we lived near a place where a retired man made his own decorations and had a gorgeous display in his front yard. People came from everywhere to see it. One evening, we walked past and noticed a whole lot of stuff was gone. There was a sign on the front fence explaining that someone had stolen all the hand-made decorations. * gives up in disbelief* I mean, how can you feel good about stealing Christmas decorations? What makes people want to do these things?

I don't get it Buneater. How could anyone do that? What's wrong with people? I've come to a decision as well...after this year's utter frustration and lack of funds and the whole nuisance of Xmas, I've decided I'm not doing it next year...it's just not worth the bother. Maybe I'll tell everyone I've joined a religion that doesn't believe in Xmas. I've been asking lots of people questions about xmas and why do we really celebrate it, and a lot of the time I'm getting "It's the one time of the year where everyone makes an effort to be nice to everyone else". I don't think this is a very good reason...what's wrong with being nice during the other 364 days of the year? Why that day? And if everyone was "nice", however you define it, for the other 364 days, would xmas mean nothing? Ack, I ask too many questions I dunno, I've tried, I've cried, I've failed. I just don't like it. So call me Scrooge Mc Duck if you must

what some people's ideas of fun r so stupid! I hate people whos ideas of fun is to ruin someone elses. Min, if ur the scrooge of christmas im the scrooge of Valntine's Day. I feel that Valentines day is stupid coz i dont see why people cant be that nice to each other all the time. But it seems im living in a dream world.

It's not weird at all, good Heart of the Darkness. At that age, you're not doubt thinking a lot about things and forming opinions that are solely your own, not based on those of your parents/family/teachers etc. At some stage, Christmas stops being about the interminable wait until Santa arrives and starts being about a lot of fiddly work and chores, instead of just childish fun. It's a bit sad, really. I know I miss the excitement I used to feel at Christmas time, but I think I'm well on my way to feeling a different sort of anticipation and excitement for it in my mother-henly way.

Well, I was in denial before, but now I'm afraid I have to face it - I have officially joined the Christmas-sucks bandwagon. *hands out insulting bookmarks*
