Hey everyone, My name is Gray Baldwin and I was Damion in the FIRST EVER Obernewtyn Production!!! It was totally awesome. Funded and produced by local youth-arts group Corrugated Iron Youth Arts, It was a 2 hour play in Brown's Mart Theater. The Cast Consisted of locals...
Philip Denson (councilman) Ben Orchid (herder priest) Gray Baldwin (damion) Ciella Williams (Elspeth) Cameran Angus (Jes) Danielle Andrews (sharna) Jason Davies (alexi) Dominick Giblin (larkin) Andrew Gillies (the doctor) Aliah Haste (lila) Kadek Hobman (rushton) Marcie Lash (cameo) Raphael Iftene (ariel) Emma Long (Marissa Seraphim) Caitlin Morrison (Madam Vega) Madeleine Pradier (Maruman) Suzie Stevens (andra) Thea Thomas (guardian myrna) Gareth Trew (mathew) Emily Williams (selmar)
They were a great cast and it was awesome working with them. I was originally going to be ariel because the Writer (of the play) wanted me to. But unfortunatly I was to old and not blonde... or cherubic enough. So we got raph. He is a cute little blonde boy and he does Ariel well. I am tall and angular so i probably fit damion's discription well. ::)Ben who played the herder was extremely creepy and made the herder even creepier... if possible. Lukas and marissa seraphim were presented as talking paintings, projected on a wall. My character was made a little comical. All in all it was an excelellent experience. Isobelle CArmody Came to watch us on friday night and we all got to meet her afterwards. That was very cool. yeh. Any questions?

Now, after my initial surprise and horror, I've been very supportive and interested in the Obernewtyn play. Especially once I found out that it was written by Caroline, a former Wanderer. Please keep in mind that I have been supportive of the play and defended it.
Having said that: just one SLIGHT, TEENY TINY question...
DAMEON WAS COMICAL? Did I understand you correctly? I REALLY hope there's some kind of typo there.

Maybe this "comical" addition came from Dameon's dialogue. He does have a rather witty turn of phrase occasionally. A sort of high-brow wit that mostly only amuses himself. How did the meeting with Isobelle go, Gray? What did she think of the play? Did she approve?

There was this one bit where, Mathew, elspth and I are talking about escape and i have this line "I Managed to hide a knife" that got quite a few laughs from the crowd. And then theres just the whole blind act that got some laughter. but thats it

my burning question is how you represented the Talents on stage. Sound and lighting effects? voice of lud? facial expressions? I'm dead curious.
Glad you had fun!

okay I can't believe people laughed at you because you were impersonating a blind person. How comical. The joke is on them.

I would call Dameon witty, yes.
I would however, never refer to him as 'comical'. Maybe it's just my paranoia, but comical conjures up some horrific images. Please tell me you mean witty! PLEASE!!!
If Dameon ends up being actually 'funny' I'll be devestated, and no doubt the Rushton camp will never let me hear the end of it!
If you meant witty, then I apologise for my horrified comments.

Amended after reading posts made while I wrote the above: They laughed at the blindness? It's as bad as I thought. No, make that WORSE!
Poor poor Dameon!

well. the talents where done in different ways. none with fx or lighting. except for the death of Vega and alexi when we used both to do the mind killing stuff. to readd thoughts they reached out and grabbed them and then read them off their palms. and i ... could just feel it. I have to fits in the play. The first one is a scene with selmer when she is inhabited by MArissa Seraphim. And the second one is with mathew. he hates Ariel so much that he near kills me.

Yes but again, I hate to sound like I'm hung up on this issue or anything, but COMIC?
*has flashbacks to the first time she saw Faramir try and steal the ring*
Okay... *calms down* that was worse, and that I got over.
But comic? The comic blind man?

Witty I can handle. Part of Dameon's sensitivity to situations I guess.
But laughing at his disability... Hmmm. Poor taste.
So I hope it was the former. I am with you Kayt.

Relax, I've got the previous 2 collector's editions for Christmas, I'm sure it'll be out by then so people like me can get the third one for Christmas ;D
And while we're at it, I WANT AN ARAGORN THINGY WITH MY COLLECTOR'S EDITION!! I love the bookends (my brother kept trying to nick them though) and Gollum was awesome, and I'm hoping there's something about Aragorn with the third one. Maybe him and his sword? Or that statue they made of him? But it just couldn't be anyone but Aragorn... And of course they'll do a brilliant job like they did on the last two things, so it'll be awesome whatever it is ;D

Looks like you're out of luck with Aragorn... sounds like its going to be: "Collectible Minas Tirth polystone keepsake box created by Sideshow Weta"

hehe, I read that as Polystyrene not polystone and was like :oWHAT?!?!?!?!?! THEY'RE GIVING US POLYSTYRENE!!!! and then I realised... Meh, as long as it's good. I'll just have to go out and buy an Aragorn doll... My brother's getting the LOTR trivia set for Christmas ;D Can't wait... He already got the LOTR chess set (although we've never played chess on it... Recently for his birthday he got 2 sets of shot glass chess... Haven't used them either...) Cat

Checking out the details, how come Viggo Mortensen is never on the commentary? But the cast one still looks awesome :
Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Sean Astin, John Rhys-Davies, Bernard Hill, Christopher Lee, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, Miranda Otto, David Wenham, Karl Urban, John Noble, Andy Serkis, Lawrence Makoare, Smeagol & Gollum
;D Yeah... ;D;D;D;D
I love how in I think it's the cast commentary on the first one, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan with Sean Astin made this game and then Elijah Wood was trying to play it and he thought it was a real game and they just kep making up rules and he could never get it right, and for like 6 months he was wanting to know where he could buy a rule book, until they told him they'd made it up... ;D;D;D;D

Yeah, I loved that one too, Cat!
Has anyone else noticed how all the hobbits seem to get drunker and drunker over the course of the commentary?
